Chris Brown has given an official statement to NYPD investigators regarding the fight between him and fellow rapper Drake at New York nightclub W.i.P. on Wednesday night.
Unnamed law enforcement sources told TMZ that Brown’s celebrity lawyer, Mark Geragos, has surrendered unspecified “physical evidence” that allegedly incriminates Drake in the fight.
Meek Mill, one of the rappers who was with Drake that evening, has denied allegations that he sparked the fight by throwing a bottle at Brown’s group. Drake himself released a statement in which he denied any involvement, saying, “Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. [He] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property.”
As a result of the altercation, Brown was left with a gash on his chin, while one of his bodyguards, Big Pat, was seriously injured. An innocent bystander was also hurt, sustaining a gash that required 16 stitches after getting hit in the head by a bottle.
Citing unnamed sources, TMZ claimed that the instigator of the fight may have been someone associated with Brown, who was “inciting Drake and his people all night.” Videos are beginning to surface online, and while it is unclear exactly who is involved in the altercation, the club’s DJ can be heard announcing that the party will resume shortly. Not long after, a large man in a white tank top can be seen being escorted from the property covered in blood.
Hollie C., the 24-year-old Australian tourist and bystander who was injured in the fight, has filed a police report. On Thursday, she posted a video in which she berated the offenders. “I went out last night with my friends to a place called W.i.P.,” she said, “and I’ve spent most of the night and morning in the hospital… The reason why I have 16 stiches on my head, my face, is because of some stupid famous people having a fight over a girl. Where’s the justice in them walking away, driving away in a limo while I catch a train home on one of my holidays?”
It is believed that the fight was over R&B star Rihanna, whom both men have been romantically linked to in the past. Brown was infamously arrested in 2009 for domestic abuse of Rihanna when they were dating, and, while they broke up, the two have been seen around together lately and even collaborated on two songs earlier this year. Recently, rumors have surfaced that Drake is now dating the star, with photos and videos of the pair kissing being leaked online.
